This is the third video monitor we have owned and the very first Motorola brand. We have had two distinctive Summer models and I would rate the Motorola at the top. While it's correct the volume is loud when you use the two way, the other attributes outweigh this nuance. And we do use the two way to let our 10 month old that we're on the way to get her and she does not seem freaked out by it. But each baby is completely different.
1st, the portability is excellent. We applied to preserve a monitor in the living space and the bedroom. Now, in the evening time, we maintain the monitor in the living space (battery power) and when it's time for bed, we put it beside our bed where we keep the power chord. The batteries have often lasted for us with this approach.
The picture quality is excellent in particular for the night time vision, which is clearly when it really is utilized. Additional, the range is excellent. General, my wife and I actually like this unit and the characteristics. The only suggestions I would give to Motorola would be like other shoppers have said concerning lowering the two way volume or, even superior, incorporating an adjustable volume on the child camera. Other than that, we are incredibly pleased with this unit.
I agree with the other critique right here. This is a fine monitor when bought at a "deal" sort of cost. I enjoy that I can see what type of hijinks my little 1 is receiving in to now that he is out of his crib. I feel the picture quality is fantastic even with the night vision. I like that it is sound activated so that you do not have that continuous hum of a monitor and awakened by just about every little noise of your child rolling over, breathing heavily, and so on. (maybe that was just me but ahead of sound-activated monitors, I got no sleep).
I was also excited about the 2 way communication. Nonetheless, as one other reviewer notes, it is useless. The 1st time I applied it my kid was so freaked out he screamed and screamed. I believed it was just considering it was a new factor --getting my voice in his room without me being there-- but then I went in his space and my husband talked on it and it is L-O-U-D! and there is no way to turn it down. This makes totally no sense to me. Important style flaw there. Anyway, we just do not use it. Even when I whispered it was loud. Critical bummer though. I was seriously excited about the prospect of becoming able to say "just a minute, mommy will be proper there" rather than scream it down the hall at 6 a.m. Oh nicely...
